Summer School

Biological Calorimetry Summer School 2016 (20-21 June 2016)

A 2 day summer school will be organized at our institution. The goal of this summer school is to provide an introduction to isothermal microcalorimetry and differential scanning calorimetry for applications with microbes. We aim to give the participant the opportunity to get hands on experience with the different instruments and get insight on data analysis. Because of limited space and because we want that everybody can have a sufficient amount of time to practice and ask questions, the number of participants will be limited to 20 (subject to changes). Priority will be given to early scientist or student who would like to get a first overview of one or the two techniques.

The summer school will be divided in 4 parts:

Day 1 (Morning)

Isothermal microcalorimetry

- Technical introduction

- Preparing and running an experiment with non-pathogenic microbes

Day 1 (Afternoon)

Differential scanning calorimetry

- Technical introduction

- Protein stability

- Preparing and running an experiment.

Day 2 (Morning)

Differential scanning calorimetry

- data extraction

- data analysis

- discussion

Day 2 (Afternoon)

Isothermal microcalorimetry

- data extraction

- data analysis

- discussion
